PAKISTAN HONEY

Honey is considered as sweetest and natural nutritive food products obtained through bee keeping or wildly. It contains nutrients and vitamin and other ingredients. Honey of different type is also considered as medicines for specific ailments. Pakistan is ranked as 20th honey producing county and 34th in honey exports. The annual production is around 16000 metric tons. About 25 percent of the honey produced in Pakistan is exported to other countries. The famous honey produced in Pakistan is derived from Ziziphus (Ber), rapeseed, sunflower, acacia, Eucalyptus, Karanja, orange, lychee and multiflora. Each type of honey has its own nutritive and medicinal value. Sidr honey is known to treat infections and boost the immunity system, acacia honey improved blood circulation and helps in healing of wounds. Karanja honey is antiaging. Pakistan exports honey to many countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Mozambique, Japan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Malaysia etc.

Honey Production Areas in Pakistan

In Punjab: Chakwal, Gujar Khan, Attock, Sargodha and Daska are ideal places for Honeybee farming.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Karak, Kohat, Swat and Bannu are most suitable places.

In Balochistan: Quetta, Ziarat Valley, Naseerabad, and Kalat are suitable Areas for honey production..

In Sindh: Thatta, Sujawal, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas and Gulachi are suitable Areas for honey production.
